Built in the City of Charlotte in… well, we think the early 20th century, stands the Bostwick House. Not sure if it used to always be a duplex, but that has been our suspiciouns for a while now. This was built around the time the Courthouse museum was built, and it is believed it was when the location of the capital of Michigan was still beind decided. Charlotte wanted to throw their name into the hat, so they spiced up the courthouse and even had the same artist paint the courthouse that painted the capital building in Lansing. Our house may have been a board for members of the courthouse to stay at when visiting, we think the newest looking wall in the back of 219 used to lead out to a carriage drive that went about the neighbor’s backyard to the road.
